I did not want to make resolutions this year necessarily but am attempting to make a few lifestyle changes overall that I have put off doing for far too long.
The first thing I am doing is moving my phone to charge across my room instead of having it next to my bed. I wanted to force myself to cut out screen time while I am working on falling asleep and first thing in the morning. It also forces me to read or something similar before bed which seems to be helping me sleep better but I also have to get up to turn my alarm off which is helping a lot.
Next, I deleted TikTok. I spent way too much time doom-scrolling and it consumed most of my free time. My phone sent me an alert last week notifying me that my daily screen time for the week averaged almost 8 hours a day. I think it was making me miserable knowing I should be doing other things but also being unable to stop the scrolling cycle. It was preventing me from spending time with my dog, reading, going on walks, or doing any of the other things I love doing. It also just made me sad in general.
I am making lists of important things and doing my best to stick to them. I was terrible at sticking to cleaning regularly because it became overwhelming and I ended up just scrolling on TikTok so I have created a cleaning schedule to do a bit each day, it's working so far. I also created a grocery/meal prep schedule so that I can know what I have and create meals and grocery shopping lists around this. I know these things probably seem so simple or unnecessary and for most people they may be but I have ADHD and struggle so much with getting these things done.
I feel like these changes are small but manageable, especially cutting out the bulk of social media.
