This book is… so many things. It is heartfelt, captivating, and heartbreaking. I cried more
often than not and Brandon told this story beautifully by focusing on his friends, the grief he felt in the aftermath of the Pulse nightclub attack, and the journey to forgiveness (of himself mostly but also his dad), and the path forward to working on making change for the world around us. Brandon is vulnerable and strong in telling this story, something that I know must have been difficult. A Place for Us is absolutely a life changing book and one I will definitely remember for a very long time (if not forever!).
If you are on the fence about reading it, are unsure if you’ll like the book, or think it might not be for you; I urge you to try it anyway because it is absolutely worth reading.
Because it is a memoir, it does not feel right assigning a star rating because stories like this are invaluable. However, for the purpose of helping those who might be deciding whether or not to read it, I chose 5 stars on Amazon and Goodreads, though, it is worth far more than that in my opinion.
